If you launch the mail application and you do not already have an account set up, you should see this prompt. Now I'm going to go to the application menu, the menu labeled Mail. And this is what it looks like when you already have an account set up. So I'll just click on the icon on the dock to launch it. Now I'm going to quit system preferences, and now I want to open the mail application. If you have this, then you already have one account set up. I have all of those enabled for this account. And that includes mail, contacts, and calendar storage. Then I'll go to the Apple ID category, where you can see that I am already signed in to my iCloud account. First, if you use iCloud, you may have an email account already set up. I'm assuming you already have an email account that you can use. Now I'm not going to show you how to create a new email account. To work with the mail application in macOS, and to use all of the features of the address book and calendar, you need to have an email account that you can link to your Mac.
